JVP accuses UNICEF for funding the LTTE

The JVP Parliamentary group leader Wimal Weerawansa yesterday accused the UNICEF of providing Rs.100 million to the LTTE through the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation TRO.

Making a special statement in parliament, Weerawansa said that the employees of the UNO should not be biased and this was one of the rules of the UNO, which was proposed by the UN secretary.  But the officials of the UN office in Sri Lanka are violating the rules.

Meanwhile, confusing signals come out as to whether the JVP would vote with the government or abstain from voting during the budget. Speculations appear that JVP would take a favourable stand in view of the commitment of the government on defence matters.
