MR focuses on agricultural problems in north and east

President Mahinda Rajapakse focuses on agricultural problems in north and east.
A special meeting to discuss these problems was held at presidential secretariat under the patronage of president. The problems of the farmers from  Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinotchi,Mullithivu,Trincomalea, Batticaloa, Ampara and kalmunai areas were discussed and solutions found. similar problems from from Anuradapura, Pollannaruwa and Puthalam areas were also looked into, during this discussion.
Matters relating to Land distribution, seed distribution, irrigation and protection from terrorist were also discussed.Minister Mithripala Sirisena said that farmers were granted lands to use on a long  term basis to make maximum use of unused lands.Speaking at this function, Minister Hemajumara Nanayakara said certain farmers sold their lands for low prices and engage in other work.
President instructed the relevant officials to provide transport facilities to bring the products from north and east to south.The representatives from Kilinotchi thanked the president for making arrangements to transport 30 000 metric ton rice from kilinotchi.President also instructed the officials provide transport facilities to bring cashe nuts which are produced from Kilinotchi and mullithive districts.
