Another LTTE canard misfires

It had been the general defence policy of the country by the government of Sri Lanka that for recruitment of any personnel to the defence services namely Army Navy, Air Force and the department of Police including the Special Task Force, the minimum stipulated age be 18 years of age or above

Under no circumstances can any of the services organizations or the Police and STF can deviate from this very important laid down condition.

It is strongly emphasis that the government of Sri Lanka has at no stage whatsoever made exception to this basic qualifications of a recruit (male and female) or any of the services organization viz. Army, Navy, Air Force, or the Police and STF, under any circumstances hitherto.

It is imperative to note that ever since, the outbreak of the civil strife in the 1980 decade thus far as at 13th October 2006 their has never been any recruitment at any stage under any circumstance to deviate from this strongly laid down and emphasized policy of none recruitment of any person under the age of 18.

Furthermore, the very legislative enactments pertaining to the establishments, specifically emphasized, in no uncertain terms that any personnel being recruited either as volunteer or regular cadres should always at the time of applying for any purpose of joining the respective services be at the age of 18 or above.

It is also noteworthy that throughout the history of the armed forces, all of which have been existing over 50 years, have never had of an occasion to recruit any personnel under the age of 18 years.

Another LTTE canard misfires the ever unreliable information sources of the LTTE, have yet again gone on desperate level in once again slinging mud to tarnish the valor of the soldiers of Sri Lanka Army with a dubious set of falsehoods, to once again hoodwink the world community.

This time the LTTE has come out with another canard to spread vituperative and venom as they go down in history as an organization that is basking of the glory of half-truths, un-truths, and falsehoods.

However, the failure of the LTTE to realize the global community is more than awake to see through the dubious tactics of using a fa‡ade to hoodwink the world at large. Thus, the LTTE can no longer take the global community for the good old trip up the garden path.

The LTTE's claim that they have laid their hands on a prisoner of war of the Sri Lanka Army by the name of Samantha Weerasinghe, who was allegedly under age - 16 years of age at the time of recruitment is yet a nothing but a blatant lie.

The website further wishes to inform the LTTE propagandists that the personnel of Sri Lanka Armed forces whoever may come from backgrounds of low income earning families, despite the fact that they do have financial difficulties, still at the moment of recruitment and thereafter particularly, are strongly motivated whilst earning a living for up keep of their families. They are part of a huge team processing much bravery, valor, gallantry, and deep sense of professionalism with which that are determined coupled together with their un wavering patriotism to remove forever the scourge of terrorism that which afflicts the society today and moreover of tomorrow.
