Twenty four Sri Lankan pilgrims were hospitalised yesterday when a bus in which they were travelling turned turtle near Buddha Gaya in North India, Foreign Minister, Rohitha Bogollagama said.

The pilgrims were believed to have been travelling from Waranasi to Buddha Gaya when the accident occurred.

No one was in danger as many of them had suffered minor injuries, he said.

“The High Commission in India had already sent a Counsellor to look into the interests of those who have been injured and he was coordinating the facilities of the injured pilgrims and others with the assistance of Indian authorities,” Mr. Bogollagama said.

Minister Bogollagama also said the injured Sri Lankan pilgrims would be brought back to Sri Lanka once they were in a position to travel.
