President Mahinda Rajapaksa and a high level government delegation will fly to China on a five day visit next Monday, sources said. This is President Rajapaksa’s second visit to China in just over a year.
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and several other top Government Ministers are scheduled to accompany the President during the April 7-11 visit to China. Details of the visit have not yet been made public.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and a Sri Lankan delegation, last February, toured China on a State Visit to mark the completion of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and China.

Of special significance during President Rajapaksa’s last visit to China

was the agreement signed for the development of the new port at Hambantota, by Chinese investment and expertise. Several others agreements relating to trade, investment and infrastructure development in Sri Lanka were also inked.
