12kg explosives found at Ambakote

12 kg of explosives were found from Ambakote area in the Theldeniya Police division during a search operation conducted on yesterday(4), by Theldeniya Police.

The explosives were found laden inside an iron box which was wrapped in fabrics and set to be armed and transported to an unknown destination. According to sources the box could be laden with over 20 kg of C-4 explosives.

The Theldeniya Police had conducted investigations on information gathered during interrogation of 2 suspects who were earlier arrested at a Police road block at Mahaoya in Ampara district on Saturday. The suspects were in the possession of LTTE propaganda leaflets and a book when they were arrested on suspicion, Police sources said.
