LTTE explodes claymore mine targeting a Buddhist monk

The LTTE terrorists have triggered off a claymore mine targeting a three-wheeler at Mahawilachchiya in Anuradhapura last night, May 05.

According to the available information the explosion took place at 9.45 p.m at Track (Yaya) 05 area in Mannar junction.

The chief incumbent of a temple in the Track (Yaya) 07 area, venerable Kahatagasdigiliye Chandrananda thero, was traveling inside the three-wheeler when it caught into the explosion, MCNS sources said. The chief incumbent was on his way to the Mahawilachchiya hospital for receiving treatment, sources further said.

The driver of the three-wheeler who suffered injuries was rushed to the Mahawilachchiya hospital immediately, sources added.
