Sri Lanka plans to celebrate the Vesak festival in a grand scale

Buddhists are preparing to celebrate the Vesak festival in a grand scale. Arrangements have been made all over the country with meditation and pinkamas.

In the city of Colombo Vesak pandals are being erected. The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress has made arrangements to celebrate the Vesak from 18th to 22nd at Colombo Bauddhaloka Mawatha.

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and the Lakbima Newspaper are the sponsors. The SLBC also has made arrangements to broadcast various programmes to mark the occasion.

Meanwhile the Shanthi Foundation of the Seruvila Buddhist Centre in Colombo has organised a Vesak show at Ambalangoda. The Presidential Secretariat has sponsored this programme.
