Police deploys special investigation teams on Bomb blast

Police media spokesmen SSP Ranjith Gunasekara says a five prong investigation is being conducted into the bomb explosion on a commuter train near the Dehiwala railway station yesterday evening.
Several investigation teams have been deployed in this regard. Initial investigations revealed that the bomb was made of one and a half kilograms of high power explosives. Security units say the damage was less because the bomb did not consist of metal balls. The bomb had been made in the form of a bag and placed in a hood rack of the compartment. Eight persons have been killed in the blast. Acting director of the Colombo South teaching hospital Dr. Wilfred Kumarasiri told SLBC that 73 injured persons are receiving treatment at the hospital. Director of the accident word of the Colombo national hospital Dr Anil Jasinghe said two persons have been admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile the hospital resources say nine people including six women have been killed in this blast. The acting director of Colombo south teaching hospital Dr. Wilfred Kumarasiri says six out of injured are receiving treatment in intensive care unit. Further four injured commuters have been transferred to national hospital.
Meanwhile the general manager of the railway department Dr. Lalithasiri Gunaruwan said the railway services of the coastal line return to normal.
SSP of the Mt. Lavinia Police Hemantha Adhikari said a suspected person has been taken into custody regarding the railway bomb blast in Dehiwela yesterday. He further said two special team has been deployed to investigate the incident.
Police requests the public to be vigilant on travelling in common commuter transport service. The police also requested the public to inform about suspected person or parcel to the nearest police station or to the on line 118 or 119 immediately.
