Policeman injured in shooting in Monaragala

A police team came under attack by an unidentified group at Karakolagaspitiya in Monaragala this afternoon (May 30th), Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said.

Around 20 persons clad in black fired at the police with an automatic weapon, injuring one policeman, he said.

The assailants had fled the area when the police returned fire.
