The public fleeing from Vakarai in to the government-controlled area is increasing day by day, said the Batticaloa Additional GA, K. Mahesan.

Within the last three days more than thousand has arrived in Valaichenai, Pethalai, Vinayagapuram and Mankerny areas, the government and NGOs are doing relief work for them.

 Sarvodaya is doing relief work to the displaced sheltered at the Pentecostal Church.
