Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukarjee has met the Indian Communist Party National Secretary Mr.V. Rajah and explained and discussed the Indian Foreign Policy and the Sri Lanka’s situation. They discussed about the problems arising in the neighbouring countries.

The problems in Sri Lanka cannot be solved by the military activities, but only by a political means. Mr. Rajah insisted that the peace talk must be started between the President of Sri Lanka and the LTTE to stop the fighting between them. The people from the north and east of Sri Lanka have come to India as refugees. So the Indian government has to take action to send necessary food items to the north and east of Sri Lanka. Mr. Rajah said that he does not know what the LTTE parliamentarians have discussed with the Prime Minster ManMohan Singh. But India has stressed that equal rights should be given to all people in Sri Lanka.
