An army captain attached to the Kurunegala army camp has been reported missing and suspected to have been abducted. Police say he was abducted in Yakkala by unknown persons travelling in a white van while he was travelling in a three wheeler.

Police DIG, Kelaniya division Sarath Jayasundara said that prior to the alleged abduction the wife of the army captain and his two children had committed suicide as a result of a family dispute.

Mr. Jayasundera said there was strong suspicion that his abduction may also be linked to the dispute. A special police team from the Gampaha police division are conducting investigations
