The constructions of the last two stages are set to begin in October, the Power and Energy Ministry announced. The estimated cost for this project is Rs, 89.1 billions. The government hopes to generate 900 more Mega Watts when the final stages of the coal power plant are completed. The initial stage of the power plant adds 300 MW power to the national grid. The construction of the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant was inaugurated by the President on 11th May 2006.
