The protestors marched carrying placards demanding the government of Sri Lanka to release Gen. Sarath Fonseka immediately and establish democratic rights including media freedom. The protest march that went round Napoli town shouting slogans and distributing leaflets to apprise masses regarding issues in Sri Lanka captivated the interest of city dwellers. At the rally held after the protest march Sri Lankans representing various cities in Italy addressed the gathering. A special feature of the rally was the address by Ms. Anoma Fonseka over the phone. The protest march that marched from Piazza Cavour to Piazza Dante took four hours.
