Polls chief rejects UNP request

The main opposition, the UNP sent an official request in writing to Elections
Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka today to have foreign monitors present in
counting centers to ensure that accurate results are released.
However the Election Commission ruled out such a possibility stating that the
UNP should have made this request on the day of the nomination.
