Patriots denounce opposition leader`s anti-war heroes statement
Mr. Wickramasinghe has said that the troops had liberated a thick forest which is of no value. Mr. Wickramasinghe had queried the significance in the capture of Thoppigala. At a public meeting in Galle, Mr. Wickramasinghe said Thoppigala was a large forest with 700 square kilometres. He also said it is larger than the Colombo district.
Patriots pointed out that the opposition leader is displaying his ignorance by repeating such statements. Addressing a meeting in Polonnaruwa Minister Maithripala Sirisena said the opposition leader is akin to a state leader. But, he has claimed that the troops had captured a forest. He was referring to the country. The opposition leader claimed that the troops had captured a forest. Minister Sirisena said the country is unfortunate to have such leaders. He had not spoken a single word praising the operations carried out by the troops. It is also unfortunate that he had not applauded the task discharged by the armed forces and the police.
In the meantime JVP Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa told a meeting of the Patriotic National Movement in Dambulla that he considered Ranil Wickramasinghe as an unimportant politician. He frequently displays his ignorance. In Galle he had said that the troops had captured a forest, which has trees and had queried to its significance. The troops launch this operation with dedication and they are children of innocent parents of villages. Mr. Weerawansa asked how a leader such as Mr. Wickramasinghe can exist, if he cannot value this victory or be upbeat about it.
